I Know What Boys Like

Story

This week's OHW was the pinnacle achievement by Ohio-based new wave band The Waitresses, even though it only peaked at #62 on the Billboard charts. Back in my day, it was an anthem for college girls as we dappled in our newfangled feminism and sexual liberation because Patty Donahue's acerbic tone and punkish attitude (sucker ha ha ha!) echoed our sentiments towards "boys" perfectly. The Waitresses are also known for their holiday staple "Christmas Wrapping" which also hit the airwaves in 1982 but didn't chart. Nonetheless, it gets played on radio stations every holiday season and AllMusic even described it as "one of the best holiday pop tunes ever recorded."
