Story

The Assembly really was a wonder. "Never Never" was their only hit (#4 in the UK) and their only vinyl offering - they didn't even cut an album. The band was a side project for the illustrious Vince Clarke (who was in Yazoo and Depeche Mode before forming Erasure) and singer Feargal Sharkey (from the pop punk Irish band The Undertones) was merely a hired hand for the track. The song flew completely under the radar in the US until it appeared on 80s compilations, such as my favorite collection "Just Can't Get Enough", which is unfortunate because it's one of my favorite sad songs from the decade...
