Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy

02:39
Bing Crosby & David Bowie

Story

This beautiful and momentous duet between two of the world's most prolific singers seemed destined for obscurity from the start. It was taped in September 1977 for a Bing Crosby TV Christmas special just one month prior to his death and was never slated for release as a single. The special did air, but five years after the song's recording (and just before David Bowie split from the RCA label) they released the song in November 1982. While it hit #3 on the British charts, it didn't make a dent in the US and yet it is now one of the best-known holiday staples. I suppose you could say this song is more of a wonder than a one-hit...and it's the only version of "Little Drummer Boy" that I can tolerate (I'm completely baffled why people still record that incessantly dull song). Anyway, Happy Holidays!

Peace,
