Rock Me Amadeus

Story

This week's OHW is in honor of Mozart's 259th birthday yesterday. Yes, the late Falco did have a couple other hits, but none so magnificent as the #1 radio and club favorite Rock Me Amadeus (which was inspired by the Oscar-winning film Amadeus, which inspired many to start listening to classical music, myself included). Oddly enough, the first time I heard this song I was on a college bus trip to Montreal with my art class for the Picasso exhibit and a bunch of us went to a nightclub called The Limelight (no connection to the NYC club that I frequented in the mid-80s). I remember thinking, as I happily gyrated along with the rest of the crowd, that it was going to be huge in the US when it made it south of the Canadian border. I wish I had money on it...

BTW, I couldn't share the audio track because I only have it on an imported 33" single. You'll just have to enjoy the goofy video...

Happy Birthday, Herr Mozart!
