Story

Did you save all your ticket stubs like I did? This is the one from my very first concert at the long gone JFK Stadium in Philadelphia on June 4, 1983. It was a general admission, all day affair (for a whopping $17.50!) with Journey as the headliners and the opening acts were comprised of several new artists - John Cougar, Sammy Hagar, Bryan Adams and The Tubes. All went on to huge success in the 80s, and beyond, except for The Tubes. Case in point, I think I took a nap during their set because, if you were like me, you only knew them for this one song, partly because of its creepy sideshow video that was in heavy rotation on MTV. "She's a Beauty" did reach #1 on the US charts, and they did tour with the likes of Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel and David Bowie, and they did spawn a few other radio-friendly songs that pop up every now and then -- and they had a singer named Fee! -- so it's pretty amazing that The Tubes made it on my list. But hey, why would I lie?
