FAVOURITE SHIRTS

Turning Japanese

Story

From the "only in the 80s" catacombs, there's The Vapors' solitary contribution to the era - their catchy ditty "Turning Japanese" which, according to Wikipedia, the band predicted (quite astutely) would make them a one-hit-wonder. Toeing the line of being a novelty song and completely politically incorrect by today's standards, the song was controversial for being perceived as an innuendo about...ehem...self love, which David Fenton vehemently denies. Guitarist Rob Kemp claims that "turning Japanese is just all the cliches of our angst." Whatever you say, Rob.
