From the recording 80s ONE-HIT WONDERAMA

Altered Images was named the "Most Promising Act" in 1981 by Smash Hits magazine in the UK (the sister tabloid to the delightfully snarky Star Hits in the US, to whom I pay homage in my second novel Fantastic Images). But I digress...
As promising as AI may have been across the pond, they barely made an appearance on the Billboard dance charts here, peaking at #45 in 1982 with "I Could Be Happy". Still, this gleeful kiss-off song by this adorable group of Scots deserves its place on any 80s compilation, perhaps even more so than their rather inane UK smash hit "Happy Birthday". You can run away (far away) from that ditty, but it'll probably never escape from you once you hear it...
