I'm not running for President, am I? That's the question Slow Children asked way back in 1981 and for some reason this song keeps popping into my mind lately. Taking their name from the Nabokov novel Lolita, the American duo of prolific songwriter Andrew Chinich and indie-pop vocalist Pal Shazar seemed to have what it took to make it big, but never made it past this quirky song favored by L.A.'s KROQ, especially during election season. Pal would later release seven solo albums (and an erotic novel) and marry her producer and fellow musician Jules Shear (the two are still making music together) so there's no use in debating why I made this my OHWW pick of the week...
